RE: FUNJET
alex_scratch_built,
Power comes from battery. To make big power, you need more battery.
You want to make a lot of power but your 5S pack is not so big.
Your 5S pack has a bit more power delivery capability, but not your ESC
Your ESC is of no more use....if it is Castle Phoenix 80A then it has a bit more breathing room.
16/40 is capable of *****g out one of your packs and your ESC without too much trouble if propped good and hard.
Question to you:
1) Will you be able to run both packs at same time in parallel as larger 5S-5300 40C?
2) Will you buy higher Amp rated ESC?
For high speed you need bigger than 5" prop.....we can design around 6" but forget about 200 MPH setup even if you completely change your packs and ESC.
For regular Funjet 180 MPH should be possible in level flight.....190…maybe.
200 MPH, I don't think so….not without some previous dive.
Now if you will be doing a dive before going level sure 200 may very well be possible....Don't plan on below 6"….if below 5.5” diameter you will not have much of a chance.
Middle ground: we can try and design around 6" if possible......remember Funjet has poor cooling air flow to motor….due to your restriction to run 5S, we may be cornered into smaller prop.
Give me more battery such as parallel and better ESC, I will deliver the big watts….You just should not want too small a prop, or its thrust may not be able to overcome the drag of the airframe beyond certain speed.
Remember the cubic rule of power required to speed.
190MPH / 150 MPH = 1.266 times the speed is desired
1.266 cubed = 2.03 times the power is required.
Your single pack cannot do it.
Motor will need to handle twice the AMPs as your current motor.
16/40/1.5R or 16/40/1
the 1 turn on 5S will be micro size prop.
So you have only (1) choice 16/40/1.5R and whatever prop it can handle.
At max AMPs in Funjet: You will need great throttle control.
Maybe lowere your goal a bit....remember the dive will help in your speed in level flight....not sure what to tell you.
Give comments....but your plan above is not going to be doable without more power being delivered to ANY motor....even best 36mm motor will need to be fed more juice than (1) of your packs can do.
Funjet can fit both packs.
{ EDIT: ***Finally, maybe the reduced drag of Funjet ULTRA will be the needed ticket for your 200 MPH pass. }
