Regarding taking a western name, this is the first thing most Chinese students are asked to do when studying a foreign language. Funny thing is, the name rarely sticks as they change on a whim or because their employer wants them to assume another identity more fitting &/or one that belonged to a past employee who held the position a new hire assumes for continuity.
