I use Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz on my Leo2A6 and had similar issues. The trick I found (similar to analog radios) is when set-up programming the gun elevation stick, do not fully extend top and bottom.

I put a small spacer to limit the very top and bottom when programming to 'simulate' 100% stick travel. The Main gun Fire (full up) and Machine Gun (full down) requires 100%+ deflection. I just trick the radio into a more than 100% throw by programming slightly less than 100% throw when setting up the DMD.

There may be a more sofisticated way to program the radio for this, but this simple way you do not have to use the trims.
