Oil stains from muffler
Hi everyone, I have a 3W-106 twin that stains the underside of my cowl and the belly of the engine with a lot of black oil marks. I don´t know if it has to do with needles or if the engine hasn´t been broken-in enough. Here´s what this engine´s been doing:
1.- for the first 4 gallons Pennzoil 32:1, mejzlik 27x10, 6450 rpms
2.- after the 4 gallons, Red Line Racing oil 40:1, mejzlik 27x10, 6480~6550. it now has about 6 gallons on this oil
3.- Engine has stock incowl mufflers, I had to cut the muffler legs about 1 inch to fit the cowl without having to make bigger holes, airplane is a Pilot RC YAK 35%, weighting in at 29.5 pounds ready to fly.
4.- The engine vibrates a little more than I expected from a 2 cylinder engine. Needles are - high 1 turn and low 7/8 of a turn.
5.- Transition is great through out the throttle range and iddle rpms are 1400.
There´s a lot of oil build up under the cowl after 6 flights, a little oil under the plane and left wing and more than a little on and under the left stab.
It has the factory timmng.
Any ideas as to what could be causing so much oil comming out of the engine or is this normal?
let me know if there´s a fix for it, any advice is welcome.
Thanks,
John
