Yes, I do have a lot of time on my hands. Perhaps too much. Maybe a tube frame wouldn't be all that heavy? Thin wall tubing is fairly light weight actually. Up the size of the model and there's a perfect candidate for the [link=http://www.robart.com/r780/images/R780%20Running1.rm]Robart R780[/link] which is modeled after the Jacobs powerplant used by WACO and others. Now that would be a truly authentic model. Hmmm... Anyway, click the link to see the R780 running. Watch how the test bench jerks forward at throttle up in the second part of the vid.

Got an e-mail today from Aircraft Spruce saying that the bargain bag of spruce shipped today. It will be here Wednesday. How's that for service? I haven't even started cutting rib parts yet!
