I recently (about 18 months ago) learned and soloed on a LT 40 no complaints. However if I was doing it today I would probably go with an Avistar as it will serve you longer, you can do basic aerobatics with it. In the very begining the LT 40 might be a bit easier to fly but if you are on a buddy box the Avistar would not present a problem. Good luck.
