RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
Well I have got to the bottom I hope of the the retract problems that have affected some Hawk owners.I ordered my Hawk with the sport UC/tank package as this saves about 500 euros. As Dave says it is probably not worth spending the extra 1000 euros for the scale legs.Wellmy sport legs came with small dia.cylinders(18.50mm o/d) which work fine on the nose leg and OK on the main legs in a static situation, but are not up to it when you are rolling as the gear doors produce a lot of outward lift so the operation is marginal even with 100psi. On the other hand the scale legs come with larger dia.main cylinders(25.00mm) to counter the additional weight. So the answer for sport leg owners is to use the 25mm cylinder/piston set up.The retracts are made by Airtech Germany and Erwin the guy there will change your small cyliders for the large setif yousend them back and he will replace them by return. So I sent off my cylinders by UPS express service which is expensive but at least you can track your item all along its route.Next day decided to check online if they had arrived only to find out that he has moved and and UPS could not deliver my package.Well he has moved but not round the corner in Germany but to Switzerland.I managed to contact Ewin by phone and he was OK about it and said he would ship a set of large cylinders that day.I want to fly at our Abingdon classic jet meet in a few weeks time.So any of you guys out there who want to upgrade your main cylinders take note Airtech Germany are not in Germany but Switzerland.
As for scale pilots I got mine from Fighter Aces here in UK,very nice complete with red arrows G suit and jacket with red arrows badge but expensive at £90.00 UK pounds.
