Default RE: what was your first radio system?

Heathkit, built in the early 70's. Started to put it in a Bleriot, then moved it into a .25 trainer so I could learn to fly. Those were the days. I was a 2LT in the Air Force stationed at San Bernardino, CA. My instructor lived in Redlands so I drove out there to fly. One day he was late and I had already soloed so I thought I'd give it a go without him. Managed to rip the wings off the trainer and augered in full throttle. The engine and radio lived to fly again, although I had to dig the engine out of the dirt. The wing arrived a few minutes later. My 2 year old son at the time still remembers helping me pick up the pieces and put it in the trash.
