If you can get the Testors Candy Blue paint that they use for car bodies, I have used that with good success. Just put a couple of coats on the inside of the canopy and you will get a nice transparent blue. The more coats you put on the darker the blue.
I'll 2nd what Tim said... I've used this with great success on several planes.
