I have recently suffered with the second plane indecision and decided on the Four Star 60 ARF. It is low wing, and a tail dragger, still forgiving, but much more aerobatic than the trainer.

Personally, I wouldn't skip the step. I'd go with a second plane and save the Edge for later.

I also thought about the GP Big Stick, but it was tricycle gear and high wing and I didn't think I would learn as much. I think the Ultra Stick is a tail dragger. A lot of guys go with them for a second plane and everyone I know has been happy.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the popular choice, just don't get over your head on #2.
