Firstly, I would just like to say how AWESOME this hobby is, and how AWESOME rc universe is =)
I've been interested in this hobby since i was little, but never could "afford" to get involved if you know what i mean, when i had some spare time, I'd try to learn about it and wow theres heaps to learn.. but NOW, i'm really involved and i love it!
And I'm a bit of a noob so please bare with me.
I Currently own a 140 scale Yak 54 (never flown), I've installedpush rods and all the little bits and pieces, all i need for it are some decent servo's and a motor. I've also built this really old slope soarer from a scratch build kit which was given to me when i was like 6? I also built a foamy park flyer (RIP) that was awesome for about 5 mins, until i crashed it, repaired it and painted it with a paint that wassupposeto be foam safe, according to this women at Bunnings.. But I have a problem with my newest model.
I purchased the Pheonix by Esport a few weeks ago, and its a great plane to start off with, people said to go the very basic trainer for starters, but i figured becauseI'vebeen practicing (hours everyday onReal flightG4.5) I'd step it up a notch..So I went for the pheonix, after flying it about 7 - 8 times I started to get abit bored with it, so I decided to switch from the 2.4Ghz transmitter that came with it to my FM Optic 6 and wow there's a massivedifferencein response times.
Everything went smoothly until I launched it, I was on fullthrottle and it pitched up, stalled then crashed. the damage was repairable tho it now looks abit.. bent! I'm pretty sure I forgot to balance it before launching because I did add a bigger motor and smaller battery and because the motor is behind the CG it makes a big impact overall, lesson learned I guess..
ANYWAY, I've since added flaps to the pheonix, controlledbyseparateservo's, the ailerons are also controlled byseparateservo's but are connected via a Y cable.. My problem is setting the whole thing up.. Here's my setup:
CH1: Right flap
CH2: Elevator
CH3: Motor
CH4: Rudder
CH5: Ailerons
CH6: Left Flap<br type="_moz" />
I have flaperon ON, so the flaps are also ailerons, but I want to figure out how I can have the ailerons and flaps seperate.. I figured I'd be able to use to Y cables to control the ailerons and flaps and make them flaperons, but that kindadefeatsthe purpose, and If I were to set it up like that, the flaperons are on the wrong stick, as I'm use to having the ailerons on the left stick and the rudder on the right, Is that normal??? I dunno.. maybe i'm just weird.
Almost every personI'vemet has been very secretive of RC planes and what go's into setting them up, I dunno why, but i've always found it difficult to find help, hence whyI'vefinally joined this awesome site..to mingle with like minded peeps! So thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to give up some time to help out an enthusiastic noob like myself! lol. =)
So, anyone have any ideas??<br type="_moz" /></div>
