The Nikko Sub had a good production run from 1986 to late 2009 when production ceased. That's more than twenty years with no change in the sub's hull design only one (1) known upgrade in the electronics circuit board (inside the sub). The electronics update was likely introduced in the mid 90's. I have an original 80's Nikko sub called "Ocean explorer" and a mid 90's Nikko sub called the "Sea Wolf". The circuit board inside these two subs are not the same.
