Putting a tower muffler on a evo 46 and say it has more power than a OS46 isnt a good comparison. put the tower muffler on the OS and then could measure but still not good since the engines have different timing and carb sizes.
You have a good point. However, the stock .46NT had enough of an increase in power over the .46FX to make mention of it. This was done on the another model and the comparison was easy to see. The only thing done was pull out the FX and put in the new Evo. Same prop and same fuel was used. Yes, carb and timing varies but that still leaves you with the power available for comparing. The FX and NT swaps were done on two models.
Ed, the things that I like about the Evolutions are quality build, good price, and great performance. Good chrome in the liner. Good prices on repair parts. An Evolution crankcase and crankshaft is about 40% the cost of comparable OS parts. Pistons and liners are priced where you can afford to work on and repair the engines instead of tossing them away.
Chris- the 12.25x3.75 is heavy. I never really noticed spin up lag. I did notice it when I switched back to an APC 11x7. There is a huge gap with those two props imo.
