Are you saying that when you open the throttle you cannot keep it running by richening the needle?

Sorry, I'm just trying to make sure the symptoms are clear. You spoke of starting at a good idle, then opening the throttle, and it shuts down lean, right? During any of these episodes, did you try richening the mixture after opening the throttle?
