RE: tail drive?
Do a lil research on the Yamaha RMax helicopter. That helicopter has a belt drive tail system. If it is good for that helicopter, do you think it is bad for 400 size helis?
Now the real question is: is the belt drive a good thing? When compared to what? A direct drive? or a Shaft drive?
Please be a little more specific.
Belt drive is a world apart from direct drive. Some people claim that shaft drive has less friction than belt drive, but it is hardly noticeable. If you can keep your tail rotor from hitting the dirt, then a shaft drive is a good choice. Otherwise the belt drive is your best bet.
