Default RE: Help with T-2000 ESC\REceiver

Hi

The point on needing a special handset to use the T-2000 is not really accurate as the one I had worked perfectly and run fine with my futaba 4ch setup - it could use other manufacturers handsets as well. The fact is the HL setup uses proprietry components as it will not work with anything else other than an HL transmitter. I am not knocking this as if you only use HL tanks that is a great setup but I mainly use Tamiya and the T-2000 was compatible with the handsets I used on my Tamiya tanks. The HL boards may have sound which the T-2000 does not but the sound on the HL boards is nothing to write home about these days as it used to be a lot better prior to the later RX-18 boards which are a step backwards in this area.

I also have fried several HL boards over the years and would not class them as infinately better going by my own experience which was similar to others on the forum going by the many threads with blown HL RX series boards. Any board is up for problems and all have their pluses and minuses. What I liked about the T-2000 was its compact size which was ideal for the 1:25 scale Jagpanthers I ran it in and the compatibility with mainstream transmitters. I am sure it would be equally useful in other tanks where space was at a premium.

The main point I fell is that both the T-2000 and HL RX-18 are on the more budget side of the fence compared to the others like El-Mod or Tamiya. With any budget product you will more than likely have more issues than with the more expensive stuff and when people have probelms they trend to shout the loudest - which is understandable. I am not advocating buying a T-2000 to anybody but if asked I found my one to be fine and offer good service when it was used.
