I think the one thing choppersrule left out is check that one of the motors isn't "binding". If one motor pinion is real snug against the gear, and the other motor is a little loose, the tight one will bind and run slower making it spin. The rule of thumb is you should have a gap about the width of a sheet of paper between the pinion and the gear.
