ok i go out and fly and look at all this .....
ok albsurfer i see maryland , not sure where but if your close to va. and fimiliar with rt. 301/207 you can check out caroline h.s. , behind the school is a good 250 - 300 yards of field i know it would be a drive but if your close to va., the schools have open fields and the police will normally pull in and watch they are a little more liad back then your home state ( the locals trust me i know about the state police ) .
tarasdad , if we ever meet you gotta' let shake your hand , i may not agree 100% but well put .
the ama it's self talks about it's declining membership ,and the park flyers well i love flying my foamy around, i just don't do it at parks where alot of people end up , this is where my insurance issue's begin , i believe you are covered at your flying field 110% , on private property with writen' premission 110% anywhere else unless specified directly 40% .

and when and if i join the ama it won't be for the insurance it well be because of :
tinner1
joebahl
tarasdad
and all the guys on here that i haven't listed because i lost my mind longer before all this started .

one more thing i really do believe that as long as your getting people into the hobby they well find there way sooner or later to the ama , and this and any other forum like this , and here's my advise - you really won't know till you stop by your local flying field and check it out for yourself . !
you can read this till your blue , it won't tell you about the people in your area , you run into 80% of these guys at your field you'd probably go home and join anyways .
i have followed my own advise but every time i've stopped by my local field there's no one in my age group , and it just makes you feel a little out of place .
I live in Southern California, west of Universal Studios 15 miles. Our field is just South of Van Nuys Airport, the largest private jet and small plane airport in California & most of the U.S. We have a 400 ft ceiling limit because of it and the field has almost been shutdown 4 times in the last 5 years because of people violating airspace. the airport police & the LA Park service comes over to handle the pilot complaints. Of course we get Full Scale small plane & Heli pilots who violate our airspace from time-to-time just to torque off rc fliers. Fragile contract for our field.
