Default RE: 3rd annual Cincinnati Jets

I would like to thank everyone involved that put this meet together. This is the first time that I attended Cincy Jet meet and had a great time.
Everything was well organized and it was a great to fly! The dinners provided were excellent. The flight line and startup areas were well organized.

Too bad I had some issues with the trip that I advised people to stand away from me so my luck would not rub off on them.

Right as I was leaving my house, my passenger side mirror fell out and shattered..... I had to rig up a replacement.

Just south of Columbus, the right rear tire of my travel trailer blew out taking some floor and the BBQ propane outlet.

Friday Morning one of my Flight battery packs in my Tsunami had a cell go bad......first time ever

I had 5 good flights by 6pm and then disaster struck. I was flying the racetrack pattern at moderate speed and was turning from downwind to base when the left wing dropped. I righted the plane and then it seemed to do it again and then the nose dropped. I tried to save it but to no avail. When I saw that it was not recoverable I shut the turbine down and the plane went in over the dike and right into the Miami river. By the time we got over there the plane going downstream with the current. After 100 yrds or so it got hungup on a branch in ther middle of the river. I decided to go get it and was able to retrieve it and bring 99% of the parts back to shore. The turbine ran the next day and will probably just need bearings. The ECU was dried out and it is OK.

The story of me swimming out to get it was classic. As I was swimming out to the accident site, I realized that I was going downstream I angled a little more towards the plane. When I realized the I might not make it to aircraft I put my one foot down and realized that I was in only 4 feet of water! I walked out and recovered the remains......

Smart or dumb idea, who knows, but I did cool off some.

Also, on the way home, my roof vent blew off of my trailer, I didn't know it and as we drove home though heavy rains, the trailer was soaked. I didn't go in the trailer until I got home so I did not know,...............but I had fun.....
