I know this referenced somewhere, since I have seen it, can;t seem to find it now?

What is the best way to clean the carbon from an engine. I have a new Nelson Q40LS I have been running rich through bench break in (about 3/4 gallon) and about 20 flights. When I tore it down it is quite carboned up, wondering the best way to clean without using abrasives.
