RE: What temperatures do you guys fly in?
I recently had an experience that was more than just temperature.
At Jets over Cayley near Calgary, Alberta, we saw daytime temperatures of about 29 C (about 95F) but we were at an altitude of about 4000 ft. Someone said the density altitude at that temperature was about 5500 ft. The turbines sure new it. I figure, when my turbine was actually running, I was at least 25% down on power from what I'm used to. Lots of guys were havgin un-explained flame-outs or throttle-up problems.
It was a great event but the atmospheric conditions were a challenge.
