Here is a review of the Webra 50. Same construction.

I love Webra engines but they ''used to'' to have problems with their mufflers and the way they attached them. From what I understand the strap-on mufflers didn't put any strain on the engine case (bolts running next to the cylinder) that could affect the shape of the cylinder. They would/could ''pop off'' without destroying the engine case in a crash.

They later drilled and tapped the case and provided a muffler that screwed into the case Old Webra 50 comes to mind with the giant tube muffler.

After that they redesigned the case and added additional material ''lugs'' to the outside for a bolt-through muffler.

Try and find a muffler and run-em. They're great engines. Very well made.

Just a note you might find helpful.

Try and find the muffler with the flanges on the top and bottom of the muffler where it attaches to the engine case. The flanged muffler was used on your style engine and kept it from moving. The latter mufflers were sent out with the flanges milled off (because they were bolt on...) Both these are bolt-on but the flanged one can be used with a strap if you drill and tap the sides like the one shown in the review.

Like I said, It's like they spent all the engineering money on the engine and the muffler was an after-thought.....


Originally, Webra Speed engines were intended for use with a tuned pipe, so no muffler was included with the engine. Buying a Webra and putting a muffler on it is tantamount to buying a YS two-stroke and putting a muffler on that engine. It is a complete waste of money and it usually indicates that the owner doesn't understand the engine's purpose. Kind of like driving a Ferrarri racing car to work on weekdays.
