Well just remember so you know if you tear the tail wheel off you can still fly. I will tell you the best tail wheel experience I'v had are the type that connect to the rudder with little springs, the ones that have to be drilled and pushed into the rudder itself have a tendancy to break parts. Hard landings can break rudder hinges and even the rudder itself.
Is the elevator split or is it one peice, If it's one peice you will have to make a split or a hole of some sort for your tail wheel rod to get up to the rudder, this again is a good reason for the little spring type tail wheel.
