I don't care for ARFs, but I never look down on someone who flies them. I have a couple and don't like the way they are built, but they serve a purpose. Don't go through life thinking about what others think. 9 times out of ten, they are thinking about themselves and not what you are flying. The other time, its probably someone who wishes he was flying instead of watching.

Point is, don't worry about it. Have fun with anything you do!
