I like them for knife edge spins and waterfalls, but generally don't like them for harriers.  Plane dependent for sure, but I've found on certain planes flaperons increase wing rock, or at least make it tougher to get the plane to settle down.  I tend to go through phases, using them all the time or not at all.  These days I'm not using them.
