Default RE: NAME THIS PLANE

My Bridi Deception came out at slightly over 9 lbs. Mine was built from a Bridi kit and the wood could have been lighter. Being unemployed at that time, I went with the stock wood and the K&B Superpoxy paint that I had on hand.

The Deception is a great flying patternship, but it needs a bit more rudder authority. Building it lighter would probably have increased the effectiveness of the available rudder area, but I built it as light as I could with what was available.

In the end, our sloping flying field did it in. More correctly it did my patience in. For the first half of the year, you had to land coming in over the road, drop down onto the field and then roll downhill until the model hit the weeds. In the second half of the year, after the wind changed direction 180 degrees, landing the 9 plus lbs. Deception going uphill was a piece of cake, but by that time the model had been weed whipped so severely that thinking of flying in contests was ridiculous. Besides, my OS .61F SR wasn't providing the thrust that I needed for the verticals, even with the pipe pulled out a bit.
