which postion is best for a lefty ?12 or 2.?I know its easier to flip it by hand and I understand how a starter screws a expensive tru turn spinner but I like having my hand and all my fingers.I worked in hospital over 30 years and saw several examples of hand starting gone bad.admittedly your crazy starting a 4 strker barehanded thet have a nasty kickback.I think I will use a stick for the time being.I cant say I like a starter eitherand while I used it alot in earlier years I got my engines mostly satios to start with very few cranks.when you go from a 14 or 16 prop to a 18 and 20 inch it can be intimidating at first. what has always scared me is when modellers hover over the prop while its starting.I guess all I am saying I error on the side of safety.thats just me and I am not trying to get anyone mad.now what were we talking about lol.yeah 12 or 2?
Maybe consider the potential for prop damage during a dead stick landing? There's a pretty good chance of a "less than gracefull" landing under some circumstances, and having the blade positioned properly to minimize the chances of damage might save quite a few bucks in the course of a flying season. I hand start always, have found I'm fine with the prop at 2-3:00 FWIW
