defend my needles from those well intentioned attacks.
*LOL*

That's a great phrase...may need to borrow that one.

Thanks for the commentary guys. I appreciate the kind words.

I really do think it's important, though, to note that...at least everywhere I've been....the folks trying to help really ARE trying to help.

I mean..ok...maybe there's a (largely subconscious) desire to be 'the man", or to wave the magic wand of engine tuning and take on wizard-like powers...but, largely, it's really just folks who genuinely want to help other modelers. Indeed, much of the time, it's not only well MEANING folks, but guys with some genuine knowledge and experience.

I think, to be honest, what bites ALL of us is the desire to make a quick adjustment and go fly/get someone in the air. Nobody really WANTS to tear the airplane apart, and troubleshoot slowly and methodically...we all just want to go fly...RIGHT NOW. If we happen to demonstrate our fine technical expertise in the process...so much the better.

In any event, as I say...i really don't wish to suggest that anyone reject the advice of well meaning hobbyists out of hand, or neglect that avenue of troubleshooting.

I do, however, think it not only appropriate, but wise, to perhaps say "I appreciate the offer of assistance, and may well take you up on it..however, i would like to do this in a very precise fashion, so I hope you'll excuse me if I ask that we hold off on the _______ for just a moment"
