Interesting all this. It seems we are all aware of this problem and just put up with it. Why?
Because it would seem that the art and enjoyment of building from plans or kits has been lost. Its a real pitty.

The fallacy in that logic is that the factories make enough for them to warrant changing their practices if purchasers protest, to the point that it hurts sales.
The recent economic problems have revealed that this is not the case.
Most of the ARF factories, either closed up shop or retooled for other unrelated products.
If sales drop, they merely leave the business.

Personally, if I had the time I might build kits.
