The deeper the better and that is the middle of the tailcone.
Unfortunately that is incorrect. you only want it deep enough to vaporize the fluid, any deeper and the heat is too high and you burn the fluid giving you LESS smoke.

can you define "Burn" please?

as far as i know FIRE= OXYGEN + HEAT+ FUEL

if one of the three is missing (in our case the oxygen that it has already used and burn in the turbine) we have no fire and the fuel can only be vaporized.

there is no such a thing as "too much heat" . the fluid can be burn or vaporized and since i dont see any flame that means its vaporized
