Dave, on the reliability issue I can say it's the sweetest running engine I've ever owned, but it's not as powerful as I'd like. It's quiet and very reliable, and the only time it's stopped was when I leaned it too much.

It's mounted 45 deg. inverted, and while it does not always start with a hand flip this way it is very predictable -it needs a good prime to start. 5-10 prop turns with finger over carb will give me an easy start each time although the starter is used sometimes. I'm using 10% nitro, 15% synt/castor.
