Hey,
Here is my .40-60 3d plane design. The Renders are ugly because i did them in autocad. Once i reinstall my 3dsmax ill render it in that.
What do you guys think of the lines? Do you think the wing and tail are correctly sized? I used a naca 16 i think its called and the wing cored is 11 3/8 in and the wing span is 54in. there is 750 sq-in of wing, and 150 of that is aileron.
Thanks, your advise is greatly appreciated

I think your ailerons are too narrow but other than that it looks good. May want to add in some nose blocks or perhaps the big openings are just from the rough rendering?

Btw, those allerons are 3 inches, Should i add more?
And also, what do you thinkg about the naca16 airfoil? is 16% fat enogh>?

I'm in the same boat. The sizes of stuff on these 3D models just doesn't make sense but even at 3 inches they look narrow compared to the other stuff you see around. Leave it at 3 at the tips or even cut it back to 2 1/2 but I think you're going to need to go for about 4 inches at the roots to make it look like the other stuff out there.
You may want to post a link to this thread and ask the folks in the 3D or profile forum to drop in here and offer their opinion. They'd know better.

go 33% of your cord, and if you can keep the airfoil on your ailerons, foam wing sheeted with balsa are easy to repair, and if you do lightening holes, you can save a lot of weight..... for the fuse, use arrow shafts, if you go to a sports shop, that custom cuts them, you can get left overs, for your empenage and do the fuse with full lenght arrows..... use epoxy with a stuctural filler, so you can join and fillet arrows(stringers) to plywood..... just a thought
