Hi Guys,
Here are some pictures of my F-14. I chose a little different paint scheme to keep it simple. It is powered by 2 RAM 500's. Just needs a little more detailing before I can clear it and put all the equipment back inside (removed for painting). Problem may be maiden since the winter has really start to set in. Maybe I'll take it down to florida jets in March. Did't I do that with my last one as well ??

Thanks - Adil

Good Job Adil! I will need those High Res. PICS for the F-14 scrap book.
I hope you saved some paint for the pallets, and wing glove pylons.Steve has finished the temp plugs for the ordinance, pallets, tail hook and wing glove pylons. I will start molding them as soon as i finish these last three F-14 orders, maybe sooner.
It looks like a killer with all the extras hanging on her, shes still the meanest and best bird in the fleet.
Talk 2 u soon

Adil, great looking kat!
This flying season coming up looks like it will be the year of the Kat. Some many coming out of the hangers on 05 that it will be a sight to see with all of them in the air doing fly bys.
Mavrick going supersonic, I'll be there in thirty seconds!

Ian he stated that two ram 500's for power. A very nice project maybe a Tom Cat revolution will take hold and more manufacturers will start producing this beautiful Jet..

Adil, although i'm a little partial to the Yellow Aircraft kit because it's slightly larger in size, I must say this is a beautiful jet. It reminds me of the days when Fiorenze used to fly a similar ducted fan powered scheme ( I have the video). I really hope you'll be able to maiden her in Brooklyn for I will be first in line with camcorder in hand to see her fly. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!
Please, keep us posted.

Guys,
Thanks for all the nice compliments. I actually wasnot sure if the black one would look as good as the other paint schemes or even my last one (Jolly Rogers) but I must admit, it is nicer looking in person than depicted in the pictures above. As far as maiden flight, as long as I don't freeze myself, the plane will fly (as most people that know me have witnessed).
I do have a question for you guys though - what color helmet did the pilots of this particular plane have? I think it is white but just want to check and see. the cockpit is being done as I write this. Below are some pictures of the ejection seat (not complete) and a picture of what I believe are F-14 pilots.
Thanks - Adil

Last time i saw Vandy 1 the pilots had white helmets with the blue stripe like on the tails on them. The guys flying the D version of the Vandy wear the HGU-55 helmets and they are solid white with no markings..I think i have some pics here of both helmets i will look and scan them in tonight if i do have the A version.

Actually, that F-16 is all decked out now. Wait til you see it with the cockpit and drop tanks etc.
Also have a couple of other projects in the works that I've always wanted so its going to be a busy winter.
looking forward to you soon.

Adil

the colors you picked to paint your aircraft is an F-14D and your model looks like an Alpha has the wrong camera pod on the nose and the wrong seats if you want to be correct. Vandi one was the first production Delta with 2 GE-F110 engines and Naces Ejection seats. but your paint job is excellent. i would know because i am an f-14 mechanic and have worked on them for 11 years. soon to transition to F-18F's super hornets. and VF-213 will be the Last F-14 Squadron. i am assigned to VF-32.

Hi Dillin25,
Thanks for the pointers and the compliment. I knew from the start that I wasn't going to build this to a level of competition hence the few abnormalities etc. I do agree with you that the camera pod is not for the F-14D. The little bump that the kit cames with was more for the "A" version but I wanted something a little more and tried to make it our of balsa and putty etc. In my research, I did come up with the scale one (twin booms) but after a few tries, could not make them to look that good and settled for this version. I do know that the manufacturer (of this kit - JetMart USA) has come up with the correct pod and external stores so maybe I'll retro it after some time.
Honestly, if that and the ejection seat is all you found "off" then I did GOOD
for a short 3 weeks of building and finishing this plane.
Now to find some good weather to test fly. I does seem that this bird may accompany me to FJ this year afterall.
Thanks - Adil

Adil,
My hat is off to you, that is one killer looking plane. I have been wanting a 14 forever. I will get one eventually. I would actually like to have a little bigger one. From what I understand, the Jetmart kit is very complete. Wing mechanism in, formers and gear plates as well. Scale gear, wheels and brakes. It is an awesome kit.
Will you be bringing it to Bardstown, Metropolis or Tenn Jets?? Winnemac, I may get to that one this year.
Best wishes on the maiden.
Randy

Adil, your markings and TCS chinpod are correct for the Alpha version of the Tomcat "Vandy 1". If your going the Delta version you need to make quite a few modifications, like dual chinpods, ecm blisters above the intake, different engines from the P&W TF-30 to the GE F-110. If your doing a Delta you will also need to change your markings. This is Vandy 1 the plane you are doing which was with VX-4
