I am going to try and post pictures (finally) of the warbird I have been talking about for months... Here is the wing, Aileron servos outboard on hatches, center actuated flaps.

looks like its shapin up! keep on goin man.....
At first.i was confused by the flap setup nyrods....but after lookin it over....it will be fine. man yer eyes play tricks on ya when ya start to grey. Funny how rotating a servo changes the usage from aileron to flaps. very interesting......if ya dont think about it much. Keep up the progress man!

Rich, Lookin good man, Looks like you'll have her in the air in no time. Slimline did indeed do a good job. It will probably make some noise but then you want to hear your warbird's engine anyway. Keep up the good work

Thank you for the nice words and encouragement guys. I think the flaps will work out well. Time will tell... I am excited about getting this warbird in the air. I seem to be a little stalled at the moment, I am putting the same amount of time in lately but I just don't seem to be making the same progress I was say, a month ago. I am trying to keep positive and up but time is crunching away... O-well, It will come eventually right? I will post more when I get further on.

OK Guys and Gals,
I have my hands on a very nice digital camera [>:] ! A co-worker has graciously lent me his camera for the weekend. Come Tuesday or so of next week, I should have many pictures of my B-Stang in the current build state. I know I keep saying I will have pictures and now, I will! Be sure to check back...

I am just starting this kit and am working on the stab and fin. I have a question about hinging the elevators and rudder. With the counter balances in place where are going to put the hinges? I was thinking of using robart hinge point and putting one outside the counter balance and 2 inside or should I put all 3 inside the counter balances?
Thanks
Thanks

Hey Killer...
I did as you are thinking, exactly [8D] . I put 2 Robart hinge points inside the counter balance and one outside. I am doing it on the rudder also. I am glad to hear you are doing the counter balances because they are a big bang for the buck. Not too difficult, but really adds to the presentation of the plane. I am surprised at the amount of people who go through the process of building these birds and not add this scale feature. I am also gluing rounded out triangle stock to the trailing edges of the horizontal and vertical stabilizers to hide the hinge gap. More work but I think it will be worth it. Good luck and watch for my pictures. Thanks for writing.

Thanks for the prompt answer. I just finished the upper sheeting and will be adding some blocks inside the stab for the hinge points, may do this later today. Thanks for the info on adding some rounded out triangle stock to the stab, I think I will try this as well. I assume I will move the center of the hinge into the elevator(centered on the round), similar to the plans for the flaps and round off the front of the elevators. I glad you mentioned this I had considered this but was going to skip it.

That's going to be a nice plane. I have a chance to buy a framed up TF Mustang with a new ST 2000 on it. It has Rhom-air retracts including tailwheel retract, new spinner and 16-6 Zinger prop. He wants 500 bucks CDN for it. It's a good deal but my question is, isn't that a whole lot of engine for this plane?

Hi. I to am building a TF P-51 with the B conversion. Im about ready to sheet the top of the wing. Have you given any thought to setting up the ailerons so they pivot and look like the flaps where it meets the wing?. I would like to set them up like that but i cant figure out how.

Beware on your RCS 1.40 of the spark plug boot being loose. Mine went on with a click, there was a little movement but seemed ok. I lost two beautiful planes because of this thing. I used PCM RX's and range checked, these apparently mask the problem until the plane vibrates at the right frequency and then they went into fail safe. Down they came. I noticed when range checking the controls surfaces get sluggish as you move away from the plane instead of going right into fail safe. It's only when you get to the limit of your range does it actually fail safe.
As a fix, I saw here on RCU to put a hose clamp on the boot and tighten until it's snug with no movement. My range checks are with FM dual conversion RX's now, with the engine on are at 150' now with no glitches. This also applies to the RCS 1.80. Just don't want to see your hard work heading to the local land fill.

spitfireMK1, I have the same problems with my RCS 140, but mine is still glitching at just above idle, you know its when you comming in for a landing, anyway. ive nearly crashed 3 times and since then ive worked this plane over and over trying to find a solution for the glitch but its still there, for now all im doing is range checking it and it fails everytime, my hose clamp is so tight that ive twisted off the nut and had to replance it, is there any other thing that might cause the glitch ? maby the ignition box. im getting ready to just buy a new 140 and put it in my plane and if it glitches too then ill at least have a warrenty to fall back on. before this glitch started my plane was the most exciting plane ive ever had and now its been almost six months with no solutions to my glitch.

OK Guys and Gals,
Here we go with the pictures... 1'st up, the cowl with mounting holes drilled out to fit a small piece of tubing that "squishes" out when the screw tightens down (isolation mount) [8D] ...
Then, the control surfaces with balance tabs...
Then "under the hood"...
Then Fuse side...
Stay tuned...
