I have just read the last Futaba catalog and there is listed a Synth. Module for the 9C system, it is listed as FUTL8910 but I have not been able to find more information.

Does anyone know if this new module will be compatible with the 7u,8u and 9v series. The current TP modules are compatible with the 7u,8u and 9c, the TK modules can be used in the 9v,9c,8u and 7u.

The 9VAP preceded the 9Z.
Sweet, a synth module for my favorite radio! I already have two regular modules, but this would be a cool way to trick out my 9C. I'll be able to use some of my loose crystals then.

The new Futaba synthesizer module for the 9C will also be usable in the 7U and 8U transmitters. It won't work in the 9V because the 9V uses the same standard frequency modules as the 9Z. The 9V uses the "TK" module. A snythesized module will not likely be available for the 9V, due to the age of that transmitter.
It's not likely that the module will have shift selection.
You can order the module from your retailer as soon as it gets put into Great Planes' system. The pricing structure has not yet been released. Probably sometime in the next 30 days or so. Your retailer will then be able to give you their selling price.

Bill: I plan on purchasing a radio in the next 30 days. I'm looking at the Futuba 9C, and, of course the Hitec with the synthesizer. To be honest with you, I have all Futuba currently and the only reason I'm even looking at the Hitec is because of the synth. I want to buy this in the next 2 weeks...mainly because of the specials out there. This FM synth is a huge thing for Futuba...they have no idea the amount of lost sales over this simple thing....
Is thing really coming out and will it work on current 9Cs getting sold or will there be a new radio, the 9D or something else that you have to have? I would really appreciate anything you got on this. I tried calling the number but nobody knows anything about this yet at the service center.

The FUTL8910 Synthesized RF module for the 9C is not vapor. It is a real item, due out about February, 2004.
The 9C has been out only two years. Don't look for Futaba to do anything about it soon.
As I stated above, the module will also work in the 7U-series and 8U-series of transmitters.
A synthesized module uses what's known as a "phase-locked loop" processor to determine frequency. A voltage-controlled oscillator is locked onto a specific frequency by various feedback loops and comparators. It's all done inside of a few chips. Almost any modern multi-channel transmitter uses frequency synthesis, from police radios, to military, to civilian aircraft (they have over 700 channels, crystal-controlled tranmitters would be rather large and bulky, but you can get a handheld transceiver quite inexpensively!).

Do you have any preliminary retail price range yet?
Will Futuba start selling 9C's with the Synth. Module instead of a fixed channel module.

Will it have two dials you set manually like Hitec or will you be able to do it in the program like the 9Z?

I am going to order a 9CH today with a Spectra module for $50 more ($329 shipped) from Servo City. I've heard that it works perfectly with the Futaba.
Anyone else out there flying the 9C with Spectra?

This is just a guess!!! Do not be too surprised if the new Futaba sync module is virtually identical to the Hitec Spectrum in ALL respects except the logo on the case.

And the price -- of course .... right? [sm=greedy.gif]
I expect to pay $40-50 more for it....so Futuba don't let me down.
