Does anyone know if the B52 made it over the weekend?
It had some steering problems and take off was aborted on Saturday and I had to go at about 4.
I was stood next to two yawping spectators inexorably pleased that it was having problems, you know "typical, come to see something special and it just wont work, obviously crap you'd think they knew what they were doing, how amatuer" etc etc.
It was all I could do not to say something but doubtless it would go over their nit picking pea brained heads. We had all just witnessed a succesful 8 x model jet turbine start!!!!!!! Bystanders like myself can only marvel at the engineering and guess at the issues. To have it rubbished by these two know it alls was so insulting.
I bet they probably have loads of friends at their club!!
Good show for turbines though, loads in the air and many scale, the A10 was impressive. What were the two aerobatic ones boom and tail jobs, were they Boomerangs??
I could not believe Ali Maschinski's display. It was so impressive, smooth, constant, lively, you could hear the motor spooling up and down all the time, just making it right. It does show you don't have to have it full bore all the time.
I take my hat off and bow down to his expertise, I am not worthy!!!

Davie,
That is a real shame, I gather the first Herky was lost too. It looked good when flying and the parachute drop was a good bit of fun.
I saw the 40% ultimate or Pitts go in too having folded a wing. That was some impact I have to say.
It makes you realise that whatever, the dynamics of model piloting, building and flying is different to the real thing and that despite whatever everyone does, the risks are higher.
What it does though is galvanise my own attitude in getting on to the next challenge to the bumps and scrapes and right offs of my own aircraft, which by comparison represent hardly any effort at all to these magnificent flying machines.
Men, I salute you!!
Nice pictures too Davie, thanks, this show is always a pilgramage for me. I did note lower trade attendances, I guess others were trying the new Show at the NEC.
The Jets at this show though really were good, the Comet of Steve Ricketts one of my favourites. I just wish I had the space, let alone the cash to do something like that! I've thought that the Pat McCurry Tristar would be good for 3 x MW44 Wren engines, but the costs are my lifetime allowances!!!
Still dreaming of the twin turbine swing wing tornado and flying it at Cosford in formation with another. Just need , design capability, building capability, flying capability and oodles of cash.......... just after the reality injection!!!!!

Well two things.
One, the [link=http://homepage.eircom.net/~skycam/TEST-DAY.htm]BGC C-17 [/link] is still on hold for test flying, but we did get her out recently for taxi trials.
Two, Ferry costs were the same as a YS 160 DZ for the van and model to go over.
I need a sponsor like all the others. . .
