Uses for R/C aerial photography
Hi all. I am wondering what the commercial uses for r/c model aerial imaging are? Also, what are the advantages/ disadvantages over using full sized airplanes for aerial photography?
Thanks for the help.

Some enterprising environmentalists used a camera-carrying r/c plane to catch Orange County doing bad stuff..
The main disadvantage to r/c camera work is the airplane size.
With something like the Pencam, with a 45 degree field of view, the camera has to be at least as far away from the object of interest as that object's longest dimension.
i.e., 1000 feet up for a vertical image of something 1000 feet long.
The plane gets real small.
For larger objects the plane would be out of sight.
If the interest is in something smaller, or closeups, the model plane is a good idea.. and if it's electric it just might not be noticed.
And if commercial business is being conducted, there's licenses required..
