Default Acronyms

I'm not new to R/C but new to video flying and have looked at numerous topics and appreciate you help with the acronyms used in the forums. I know what GPS and RCU mean but am pusselled with most of the others. Help me with EDVR, FPV, CCD, MPG(probably not miles per gallon), RCAPA, UAV, AP, AVS, PAC, NTSC and others.

Thanks,

Dick

Default RE: Acronyms

I'll take a shot at it... Some might not be right so other's, please correct me where I am worng..
EDVR = A small digital video recorder like a small camcorder with no tape.
FPV = First Person View.. Flying with a camera and video transmitter in the plane that sends the video to the ground to some sort of viewing device that provides you a view "from the pilots seat"
CCD = Charge-coupled device. Typically a better camera imager type to use. other type would be cmos usually found on cheaper cameras.
MPG = A type of digital video file you can download or view on your computer like... filename.mpg
RCAPA = Remote controlled aerial photographers assoc. www.rcapa.net
UAV = Unamanned Aerial Vehicle like a Global Hawk or a slow stick with camera if someone buys your pictures!
AP = Auto Pilot or Aerial Photography depends upon the topic..
AVS =
PAC = You mean PAL?? If so, a video format not used in North America.
NTSC = Video format used in North America and maybe other places too?

Hope this helps..

Default RE: Acronyms

Helps a lot. I don't want to spend my money on stuff I don't understand and don't need.

Thanks for the reply.
