Default Commercial aerial photography in Canada?

Hi guys,

Just doing some research on commercial aerial photography and was wondering what kind of licensing and restrictions there are on aerial photography in Canada from a RC helicopter. I have a large amount of interest from Real Estate agents and developers in British Columbia. I also have quite a large amount of interest from a few outdoor sports associations. I am estimating that approx. 80% of my work would be rural developments, property frontage, and remote locations.

Any insight into what it would take as far as licensing and legalities in Western Canada would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Check out this thread on Rccanada. There are several threads on licensing: http://www.rccanada.ca/bb/viewforum.php?f=50 however some are contradictory. Some suggest you need to get approval from Transport Canada. One thing is sure MAAC insurance will not cover you, no point in vasting money on membership.

I believe the issues with Transport Canada are more of a weight issue. If you are flying a small heli then no problem. I know that a small stryo foam plane (park flyers) like my Easystar or Twinstar is no problem. Again, you should talk to Transport Canada first to get the real figures first. They don't like it when you are building a large UAV that can carry a scary payload or build a UAV for the intension of commercial use with out consulting them first.

OXXY, I remeber VRFlyer spoked to TC about this.
