Default New OnBoard Camera Video

Bought a Jazz Elite HDV17B on sale for $150. Looked too good to be true, HD 1280 x 720 res, 175 grams. Actually not a bad unit. Fits in my gentle lady, replacing most of the ballast.

here's what it can do:

SaskView:
Does this camcorder work with the LCD door closed against the camera body? I suspect you had to have the LCD viewer closed against the camcorder body, but had the LCD viewer facing out. I have an Aiptek camcorder that has much the same design as the Jazz but modified it so that the LCD (viewer) door can be closed against the camera body without turning off video recording. Having the viewer facing out unfortunately does not allow the door latch to engage and close properly. There is a small magnetic sensor on the camera board that senses the proximity of a small magnet on the LCD door and (unfortunately) turns the camera off when the door is closed. This magnet is relatively easy to remove. I emailed Aiptek suggesting they allow the LCD viewer to be closed against the camera body while video recording. They responded that they know many RC pilots are using the camcorders.

Sorry for the delay in answering, folks (I forgot to check the notify button)

I bought it at Canadian Tire, Supersport.

jpgamie: This unit will work with the lcd closed if you set it to motion sensing, otherwise it shuts off when you close the lcd viewfinder. I don't think it uses a magnet to sense when the viewfinder is closed (couldn't locate a magnet in viewfinder nor would camera turn off if I placed a magnet where it closes). The motion sense activating the camera works great as long as you don't have image stablization on. Don't use the stablization feature because it drops the frame rate to 24fps and if using HD will make to video very poor quality. Otherwise, for the cost it's a great little camera.
