HEAD TRACKING: from PC gaming to RC heli ?
hey guys, not sure if this has been asked before (at work, on internet, so have little time to look around.)
i use a TRACK-IR head positioning system for my PC flight simulation/gaming. if you dont know what it is, is simulates in game/sim head movement with real time head movement (it IS in realflights G4 btw) complete with expo and other settings in the unit.
anyways i had an idea. i would like to incorporate the head tracking from TRACK-IR with a servo mounted camera on my heli for situational awareness when flying, rather than just looking straight ahead. anybody happen to work with this? or something similar?
i THOUGHT i had a "FIRST" ..BUT apparently there are a handful of videos with working systems on youtube...maybe you guys could help out..
for those that are curious...
video page of track-ir for games in general so you see what i am talking about...http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/...ct-videos.html
videos from youtube of something similar in the R/C aircraft world in action

looke for a program called "servo commander" by endurance RC. this lets you take computer inputs and send them through a special module into the trainer port of your radio. you can do things such as fly your heli with a nice gaming joystick, or use your head tracker (possibly depending on drivers).
