I just made the first two flights on my GSP 1/4 scale Katana. When making a standard banking turn the plane would kind of squat down (ie. nose up,tail down, lose speed/energy). I was rushing to get the plane in the air, it was the first nice weekend day in a while, and I balanced the plane at the field. The plane seemed to be tail heavy so I added about 5 Oz of weight to the firewall for the second flight. This really didn't improve the flight characteristics. When I got home I measured the wing and tail incidence. The main wing is down 0.5 degrees, and the horizontal stab is down 1.0 degrees.
My question is are these incidences enough to dramatically effect the flight performance or is this possibly a CG or engine thrust problem?
Plane: Giant Scale Planes 1/4 Scale Katana( New built up wing w/ air foiled tail surfaces)
Wing Span: 72"
Weight: about 11 Lbs.
Thick Air foiled wing (chord of main wing is about 0.5"-1.0" thicker than previous design Katana)
Engine Thrust : about 2-4 deg. of right and down thrust.
Thanks
Stephen

You would have to ask GSP what the incideces should be if they are not in the manual.. Also can you explain a little better on what the plane is doing in turns? How is it's stance when you are flying straight and level?

Well first thank you for replying to my post, I didn't think anyone was ever going to reply.
Second its a moot point, that plane crashed on a dead stick landing it missed clearing a rise by about 6". I now have a new GSP Katana and I made sure I set the tail and wing incidence to 0 deg. I have to thank GSP they gave me a great deal on my 2nd Katana in less than a month. I'm still waiting to fly it by the time I finished the 2nd one winter hit. I'm hoping to fly it this weekend.

Well good to hear that you have a new plane... I have a 1/4 GP Giles G-202 that I pick-up from the LHS tommorow... It will end up being one of the most expensive planes I have flown yet once I get all the servos and all... I'll have it up in about 4-5 days if all goes well... Check it double check it, have someone else check it, then Fly it... haha
