I've received a handful of e-mails asking me how to plot airfoils. I've been doing it a long time and am pretty sure I'm doing it properly, but before I put a how-to on my site, I want to make sure of something.
The slope of radius through the leading edge is drawn back from the centerline, correct?
So if I'm drawing an airfoil having a 10" chord and say a 1/8" radius, then I draw a 10" line, then draw a line back at the angle and measure back along that line 1/8"? That's how I've been doing it and just want to make sure it's right.
I understand the rest of it, so I don't need the whole theory explained - just this one part.
Thanks
- Paul

Thanks Tall Paul! I searched the net for quite some time and came up empty handed. Of course I have my theory of airfoils book, but it's all the way across the room and it can take any concept, like tying a shoelace, and make it incomprehensible, so I don't open it until I'm really desperate to not learn anything.

The article is posted. If any of you gurus see anything I'm doing wrong here, please let me know.
