Default E203 characteristics

Would like to hear comments on generalized characteristics of the e203 airfoil. This is for a combat plane <3lbs, high aspect, 60" ws, 420 sq. in wing. 1 degree of washout built in. I'm looking for a stable, quick turning, relatively high speed (80-90mph), yet non stalling efficient design. 8" root, 5" tip 1 3/16" loft at root with a straight trailing edge.

Ollie, are you out there?

So far, the airfoil is unaltered, straight from the source.

Default E203

The Eppler 203 is a good choice. It has a wide speed range. It has low drag at low lift coefficients (high speed) for its thickness. It also has relatively low drag for high lift coefficients (sharp high speed turns). It will not loose a lot of speed in the turns. It is thick enough that a stiff and strong spar can be accomodated in the high aspect ratio wing.

I wasn't able to find out much about its stall characteristics but I suspect that the stall is gentle.

The S4233 is similar and it has proven gentle stall characteristics as well as slightly higher maximum lift coefficient but slightly higher drag at low lift coefficients.

Default Thanks Ollie

You're the best! I picked the airfoil due to its thickness and slight undercamber hoping for a high lift (as compared to a more symetrical) design. Many in the combat circle are using the e205 ( and s8052), but I wanted something a little thicker. I was unsure of how it would handle high speeds though. I gave it the washout to help handlaunching. I'm more worried about high speed stall than low speed.

The cores will be cut tonight.
