Default Where is the CG??

Hello all, I'm finishing a R/N Simplex and plan does not show CG. Any ideas on how to balance? Thank You, Mike.

Default RE: Where is the CG??

Conventional starting point for CG is 25% of the wing cord back from the leading edge at the wing root. (example: wing cord of 10" cg starting point of 2 1/2" back from the leading egde next to the fuse)
Hope that helps

In this case with the Simplex being an Old Timer design with a fairly long tail and bigger than normal stabilizer I would suggest that it is quite safe to start with the balance at 33% and work it back from there based on your first flights. If you don't know how to set the balance point using the Dive Test then try a search in the Gliders forum. As the Bp moves back based on those dive tests and your general feeling about how the pitch recovery and stability responds you'll find that the elevator response becomes sharper and you'll you need to reduce the amount of the throw. Doing that will retain the familiar elevator response.

Sorry to tread on ya Bolt as your info is normally valid for a more typical layout but old timers it's a different situation.
