Default Elevator & aileron throw

I just built a delta from 2" foam. it is 42 inches long and wingspan is 86". I cut it from 2" blue foam. Does anyone know what would be a safe amount of throw for the elevator and ailerons? I set up a smaller delta and it had to much throw and was a handfull to get down in one piece.
Thanks, Mike

stgrlee,

That's a big delta. Do you have any pictures?

The best throw depends on what you want the plane to do and how big the control surfaces are. I would probably set the throw by trial and error with dual rates. I would pick a comfortable low rate deflection, and guess on a high rate then fly on the low and test on the high. After each flight I would change the high rates until I was comfortable with the performance on high rates.

Good luck!

do you have dual rate capability?if so try 5/16 high 3/16 low on airleron and 1/2 high 3/8 low on elevater.good luck.post a follow up of the test flight
