Default wing area

I have been in this hobby a long time and have learned a great deal, but I have never learned how to fiqure wing area on a tapered wing. for example a jet, extra, or edge. Straight wings are easy, but the tapered one I just do not know. Can someone give the correct way to figure wing area that is tapered.

Thanks
