Default Elavons.

Can the A-10 Warthog be controlled moderately, by using the 2 seperate elevator halves as elevons ?
I want to just control the plane . No hot stuff. Banking turns, up & down.

The GWS plane weighs a light, 12 oz ready to fly.

It would make wing replacement on this trainer so much easier.

I doubt you'll find that it works well enough even for trainer like manuevering.

A guy built a very low aspect ration flat foamy biplane using elevators that were at least 1/2 the span of the wing. Pitch was fine but the rolling was abysmal according to him. Despite the stabilizer being more than 1/2 span there wasn't enough roll authourity.

I must forewarn you.I have flown the GWS A-10 a few times but ended up selling it. It is a poorly made model. The first gripe I had was the landing gear. It is so weak that over normal wear and tear it will last you about 15 flights. Upgrade the Wheels/rims(pretty much anything close to the same weight will be better). Also, the C/G was so picky that I had the C/G perfect and after takeoff it shifted nose heavy. A full elevator and full power was the only thing that helped me make an immediate landing. The C/G shifted because the leading edge of the wing deveoped a small crack(1/8")(suprised it didn't break off). The wing deflected(equal on both sides) due to the crack which I found out later was manufacturer error. There was a huge crack across the belly near the mounting bolts.. All I did was take off, nice and easy(being the first time out). I ended up cutting a lot of foam from it and repairing with thin balsa and 30min foam safe epoxy. I wouldn't count on having that aircraft much longer, and I would also stay away from GWS. Overall, a lot of their aircraft are cheap knockoffs in my opinion.
