Airplane on a Treadmill

You're both over-thinking this!
Pushing that plane around on the ground takes little effort.
Anyone can do it easily.
The amount of resistance to rolling, from the landing gear is minimal.
Once that minimal amount of resistance is overcome by the thrust from the prop, -all- the rest of the power of the motor accelerates the plane, regardless of what is occurring between the landing gear and whatever surface it is rolling on.
It's that simple, no need to invoke anything else.

Hey, that Navy conveyor belt LANDING SYSTEM idea has promise.
Since the airplane is landing, the belt would have to run in the direction the airplane is coming in, in order to stop the landing airplane, right. Since it was supposed to stop a takeoff by running against the aircrafts direction. And it would work about as well to stop the suckers as the belt running in the opposite direction did to stop the takeoffs.
I think we need to start a thread about an airplane landing on a treadmill. And the same quality of discussion would result. Dang if that ain't a winner................
a-mazing

da rock, you call yourself a moderator?

Actually, RCU was the first to call me one.
And as one, I have to suggest something to everyone. This one liner can be considered humorous. It could be a play on the word "moderate", the adjective meaning mild. It can also be considered as negative judgment of ability. Since it was directed at me, it's up to me to interpret. BUT, moderators have to also interpret everything posted as to whether or not posts follow the rules. And I wouldn't want to shirk my duties. So I'm reminding everyone of just a couple of the rules you've all agreed to follow, the ones you see every time you do a quick response. And mention that there is another rule to consider as well.
Each post should pertain to the subject of the thread.
Anyway, time to go moderate my other forums. Keep it nice, and any time your topic is another poster consider the following cut/paste in red. And also understand that the forums are for the discussion of R/C and related topics, not other posters.
Please resist the urge to curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone in your post. We encourage the free flow of your ideas, but believe that they can be communicated (and received) much more effectively if you keep things civil. If you have to vent, take it offline. We carefully monitor posts and will ban individuals who engage in offensive conduct within the forums. Thanks. (RCU Policies)

Bruce, the difference here is that I know you well enough to take a good natured poke in the ribs and know that it is meant in good humor. This deal here is different, he should go back to the car forums if this is all he's got to offer.

Did their big lead balloon end up flying? I had to leave and missed the end of the show. Actually, I was really wondering if they could even get it constructed without tearing up the foil!

I noticed near the end of the "Lead Balloon" episode, that on the dry erase board was a list...and "when pigs fly" (or words to that effect ) was on there...

Yep,it sure did...but Adam had to do some quick patching/running around to fix the leaks that were popping up everywhere...
(this IS still keeping in line with the content of the thread, right? er, um. I mean...oh nevermind )
I wonder if some of the "vitriolic" (according to Adam ) comments mentioned on the internet came from right here on RCU? Gee..ya suppose?
Now I gotta go look up what vitriolic means...(did I spell it right?

If you really do believe those red words that you posted, then at least live up to those standards.
