The large Reno racers that are converted warbirds sometimes cut the span of the wing to reduce profile drag. Since they are not carrying war loads of weapons there is a little excess wing area. They are trying any method to get a few more MPH.
However there is a big difference when going to a small electric. Low weight is the way to electric performance. Leave the wing alone and try to drop the weight in any way you can.

It depends on what you want to do. Wingtips look good. If you want to save building time, leave them off. For best roll control, extend the ailerons all the way to the tip, behind the tips. If you want maximum performance, concentrate on saving weight.
